CHECK INN WITH RXXM504
Rxxm504 - Check Inn
It’s been a very busy year for Rxxm504, who has been working tirelessly preparing his first official EP for this exact moment. The vision began as a total team effort between Aspire Music Group members over a game of PalWorld. Rxxm wanted to tell a story that could be relatable both for himself and those taking a listen. Taking a page out of the infamous Weeknd Trilogy, we decided it would best be told in 3 parts that when combined would paint the entire picture. The project is also entirely written by Aspire’s own Rxxm504, The TEN Music Group (who also handled all of the production), and Loverboy Vo.
Today marks the official release of part 1, an EP dubbed “Check Inn”, playing off of the Room 504 hotel theming. The story begins with a skit, acted out by Rxxm504, Loverboy Vo, BeatzbyNel, and LeauxFi setting the story in motion by inviting Rxxm out for a night with the bros. Often the exact situation that kicks off many a terrible story.
After some convincing, Rxxm reluctantly agrees, hangs up and questions what’s the point in even going? Knowing it’s going to be exactly like the last time he went out, a big waste of time surrounded by people he doesn’t care about pretending to have fun. And this is the entire second track, him reliving past experiences but slowly convincing himself to just give it one more try. Produced by LeauxFi, the record is essentially a spacey soundscape, meant to represent what it sounds like in Rxxm’s head as he convinces himself to go.
“ Good girls turn to hoes when they want
They the ones that really know what they want
But baby I could never judge who you are
Cuz lately I been on the same thing you on… ”
But once that decision is made, we move into performance mode, like many of us so often do. Putting on a good face, a dope outfit, and of course you need the soundtrack to turn up to on the way just to get you in the right headspce. This is “Get Back.” The lyrics are a complete departure from the last record and show Rxxm at his most braggadocious. Dancing over 808s, forgoing a chorus and taking shots at everyone who put him in the mindset from the previous record. This is the pre-game anthem on the way to the function. An anthem for all your haters and doubters to remind them to stay on the side they chose.
Continuing the story, Rxxm arrives at to the hotel party and his theme music (Produced by The TEN’s Sir Rahmal and Teddy Productions) plays. Implying the phone call from earlier was an SOS from his friends in the skit, and he’s arrived to save the night. The party is in full swing and Rxxm is making it clear he only came to turn up and flex on everyone.
“ DAMN… WALK IN LIKE I OWN IT
I’M THE MAN IN THIS SHIT
WHO GOT BREAD
I’m GOING BAND FOR BAND IN THIS SHIT ”
As the night stretches on, the mood has calmed down a little and everyone is having a good time. Smooth and sexy, everyone is trying to find who they’re ending up with for the night. This is where we find Rxxm in “WYTD", with lyrics suggesting he’s enjoying himself in the section with his boys and some new company. It’s an all-around good vibe where he’s enjoying the attention and has his eyes on one of the girls from the party. This uptempo R&B banger is produced by LeauxFi and frequent collaborator JByss and leads beautifully into the next track…
Where more time has passed and everything crashes down. The good vibe is over and done with as a pulsating sinister sound fills the speakers. This record feels like Rxxm is drunk, and angry about it…and he is. At this point in the story, we’re nearly at the end of the night and Rxxm has sobered up some, realizing he ended up exactly where he thought he would; surrounded by strangers and fake people. You know how it is when you’ve been at a party or a club for too long, things start to feel a little off the more you pay attention. This song is Rxxm’s thoughts as he takes in his environment piece by piece, he walks you through the scene that feels tense the entire time, even saying he’s starting feel paranoid and he’s sure someone around is scheming. This is the perfect time to vacate the premises…
“ All this drinking got me
partying with demons
I been running from 'em
for a couple seasons
I won’t tell nobody but for now
Can you keep a secret?
(Will you keep my...)
… I hate all this shit ”
But then we transition into the next song when someone special crosses his path. A girl who is clearly on the same time he is on, not really feeling the party, likely dragged out just like he was, and having a good time by herself away from everyone else. But with the way the night has been going, of course something gets in the way to close out the EP.
On the “Check Inn” EP:
RXXM504: “ Listen to it, it’s great. I hope you have as much fun listening to it as we did creating it. Because I look forward to hearing everyone’s interpretations. Even though I do want the music to speak for itself. For me, my favorite record on there has to be either “Get Back” or “Baby Tonight.” We focused on some real topics on this project and records like “Baby Tonight” are refreshing to me. It definitely put me in a different space. And to be honest, when it came to this project waiting was the hardest part. Because everything involving being patient…sucked. So at this point, I just want to do anything to push it out there and get it in front of as many people as we can. I’m already looking forward to working on part 2. ”
LEAUXFI: “ I’d like to think people will hear this project, and listen from beginning to end to capture the whole story at least once. Because we really took our time mapping out the story first, and then started making the music with it in mind. Even planned out music videos for each song which would basically make a short film when combined. The ideas were super dope too, I really hope we get to film it all. The second thing I want people to pay attention to, outside of the story, is the lyrics. From the second we decided we wanted to make a project, we knew we wanted to put in maximum effort and not just drop an album with a single or two and a bunch of filler. Not just a great hook and some BS lines until the next hook. We tried to make every single line hit and serve a purpose. The lyrics are full of double and triple entendres, and we made sure to really be talking about something at all times. Either something relatable, something pointed, or something advancing the story. I mean it, like we sat there working and reworking lines sometimes for more than a day, having to come back until we got it right. And finally, I hope people can appreciate the diverse talent that is Rxxm504. This is a small portion of his talents, we’re not even really in the repertoire yet. We wanted this EP to show some diversity before we really got in the bag. You’ll have to stay tuned. ”
Q: “ I fell in love with the idea of Check Inn when Rxxm504 and producer Leauxfi first presented it. I could tell it was going to be something special just from the excitement he showed during the creative process. Listening to the project from front to back is something I encourage all listeners to do, because a lot of what makes Rxxm504 incredible was implemented throughout every track. And we all had special moments throughout the creative process. One of mine would be during the creation of “Get Back” when we identified we had a certified banger on our hands. It was great to see Rxxm504 shine in that moment, as he was assertive of who he was and what he wanted the world to see. Rxxm504 sets the tone and paints a picture that all of us has been a part of at some point in our lives. So I hope as you take that first listen you sit back and enjoy the hard work him and The Ten put in to making a masterpiece that shouldn’t be slept on! ”
