NO CHEDDAR BISCUITS ON THIS SIDE. STRAIGHT DOLLAR MENU.

Ray Vaughn - DOLLAR menu (Tariq, OhGodDC!, Vinnyforgood, Playoffs, Yalabear)

Ray Vaughn is back with the final release from his highly anticipated upcoming mixtape, “THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE DOLLAR MENU”, dropping this Friday. And with all eyes on Ray, what kind of record did he drop to follow up the introspective “FLAT shasta” and “Cemetery Lanterns”? A two-part magnum opus; one half smooth introspective hip-hop that would bring a tear to a 2014 J Cole’s eyes, one half menacing banger that sounds like the theme to a Baby Keem nightmare.

This record is just another example of never knowing what to expect from Ray Vaughn. Part 1 of the song is him reflecting on the early days where dinner wasn’t guaranteed. On many nights, something as simple as him eating a 10-piece for dinner meant his mom couldn’t eat anything. And he ties this to his loyalty to the dollar menu, because from his perspective, it saved their lives. This story is much like that line from Big Sean - Million Dollars:

“  I'm  so  tired  of  praying  for  this  free  shit
Man,  being  broke  is  some  weak  shit
But  thank  God  for  that  Micky  D's,
one  dollar  double  cheese
Or  some  nights,  I  wouldn't  eat  shit  ”

But Ray isn’t one to stay down or lament on his upbringing long, and the song changes point of view. What began as needing the dollar menu because he was broke, transitions into a braggadocious record about being up now and feeding all the baddies off the dollar menu because he refuses to trick on em. As the great philosopher Riley Freeman once said, “Taking women out to eat, giving em free meals? What part of the game is that? You taking her to Red Lobster with the cheddar biscuits! The fam ain’t eating cheddar biscuits but this random broad is eating cheddar biscuits?” True words from a great thinker of the time.

From a source of humility, to standing on couches with McDoubles. That duality perfectly represents Ray Vaughn. He cleverly keeps the theming of the golden arches throughout the lyrics with a bouncy flow to give a peek into what you can expect on Friday’s project.

“ Wait,  what's  that  logo  on  his  hat?
L.A.  County,  do  you  know  where  you  at?
Take  the  order,  make  'em  McDouble  back
Sittin'  at  your  window  with  a  Big  Mac ”

Take a listen below to the latest from upcoming TDE superstar Ray Vaughn. And be on the lookout for the first drop this Friday.
